Aveda starting program to recycle more

Aveda, a Minnesota based company, continues to do MORE in their ongoing pursuit of recycling excellence. A new voluntary take back program of plastic bottle caps at all of their retail stores, salons and schools was recently launched. The collected caps will be sent to the company’s plastics recycler who will recycle them back into caps and containers.

The program first began by collecting caps from employees. These caps will be made into tops for a limited edition shampoo set to be out on store shelves in September. The bottle for the shampoo includes 96% post-consumer recycled content.

“Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda we strive to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility-not just in the world of beauty, but in the world,” Horst M. Rechelbacher, Founder.

Aveda has achieved this goal of environmental responsibility through a variety of programs such as using renewable energy, using environmentally responsible packaging, employing environmentally preferable purchasing in their purchasing practices, and much more.
